Sake Miso Marinated Steak with Peppercorn Dipping Sauce

Ingredients

Sake Miso Marinated Steak:
1/4 cup miso
1/4 cup sake (Japanese rice wine)
1 tablespoon honey
1 tablespoon soy sauce
2 teaspoons sesame oil
1 teaspoon McCormick® Gourmet Collection Peppercorn Melange, crushed
1 1/2 pounds New York strips steaks (3/4-inch thick)
Peppercorn Dipping Sauce:
1/3 cup sake
3 tablespoons soy sauce
1 tablespoon honey
1 teaspoon McCormick® Gourmet Collection Peppercorn Melange, crushed
1/4 cup thinly sliced green onions

Directions

1. For the Steak, mix all ingredients except steaks in small bowl. Place steaks in large resealable plastic bag or glass dish. Add marinade; turn to coat well. Refrigerate 1 to 2 hours. Remove steaks from marinade. Discard any remaining marinade.

2. Meanwhile, for the Dipping Sauce, mix sake, soy sauce, honey and crushed peppercorn mélange in small bowl. Stir in green onions. Set aside.

3. Grill steaks over medium-high heat 6 to 8 minutes per side or until desired doneness. Slice steaks and serve with warmed Dipping Sauce.

  • To crush peppercorns, place peppercorns in large resealable plastic bag. Close tightly. Pound with a rolling pin, mallet or heavy skillet until coarsely crushed.
